What is an endoscopic forehead lift?
Those with low eyebrows, deep frown lines and/or forehead wrinkles can suffer from a tired look or a sullen look. It can even cause pressure on your eyes, causing you to unconsciously tense your forehead muscles, which in turn leads to headaches, tension and fatigue.
In that case, an endoscopic forehead lift can help to counteract this. With this procedure, the skin of your forehead and eyebrows is tightened and lifted so that you look younger, rested and relaxed again. This procedure is often combined with an eyelid correction to give the eyes a fresh look.
An endoscopic forehead lift has a long-lasting result of 10 to 15 years. Of course, you also need to take into account the natural aging process of the skin as you get older.

Procedure – How does an endoscopic forehead lift work?
There are two types of interventions:
- De forehead lift: an incision is made along the hairline.
- De direct eyebrow lift: this procedure mainly removes skin above the eyebrows. Small scars that are visible at the top of the eyebrows fade over time and are hardly noticeable.
During a consultation, our surgeon Dr. Van Nimmen will determine together with you what the best method is.

Benefits
- An open, younger and fresh look
- Your tired, sullen look diminishes or disappears
- Your arcade arch becomes a little more prominent
- Less pressure on the eyes

Disadvantages or complications
- Hematoma (a collection of blood under the skin that may require removal)
- Adverse reaction to anesthesia
- Post-operative bleeding
- Infection
- Change in skin sensation
- Permanent scars
- Damage to underlying structures
- Unsatisfactory aesthetic result
- Uneven position of the eyebrows
Recovery
The treatment is performed under general or local anesthesia. Afterwards, you may experience slight discomfort such as swelling, numbness or tingling. Furthermore, the incision sites may be slightly sensitive and feel itchy at the hairy areas. This can last up to three months.
Swelling and bruising usually worsen in the first three days after the procedure and then slowly decrease. Swelling and fluid will sag around your eyelids. Do not be alarmed by this, it is a natural reaction of the body. The skin on your forehead will feel hard for a few weeks. This is due to the adhesion of the tissue layers and scar formation. Sometimes the skin is also more or less sensitive. This is a normal reaction to the operation and will gradually normalize. The stitches will dissolve by themselves and swelling and bruising will slowly disappear.
Aftercare
Our employees do their utmost to achieve the best possible result for you, also during the aftercare. Your own input is of great importance. Therefore, after the endoscopic forehead lift, adhere to the instructions you have received.
By cooling the face (e.g. with ice packs) for the first two days after the procedure and lying in bed with an extra pillow in the evening, you can speed up the natural recovery.
Scar cream
Once the wound is closed and the scabs have disappeared, you can start applying scar cream. Apply this twice a day to the closed wound; this increases the chance of a good healing.
