What is a midfacelift?
While a full facelift lifts the entire face, a midfacelift primarily addresses the aging around the cheekbones and nasolabial area. With minimal incisions as with the lower eyelid correction the sagging tissue can be lifted back over the cheekbone, making the youthful contours more pronounced. A midfacelift can be combined with fat grafting in the cheeks to help improve premature aging of the face.
Procedure – How does a midfacelift work?
Through incisions in the lower eyelid, the middle part of the face, which normally does not change much with a regular facelift, is moved and fixed higher in the face. The skin and underlying fatty tissue of the cheeks is lifted. This makes your bags and deep nasolabial folds disappear and the skin of your wangen smooth and tight again. Often it even gives a more natural result.
Benefits
- A youthful appearance
- A firmer skin
- More prominent cheekbones

- Long-term swelling
- Bruising or hematoma
- Health risks associated with anesthesia
- Numbness
- Stiffness
- Scars
Recovery
- Full recovery from a midfacelift can take several months, but most people will see full results after 2 to 3 months.
- For 3 weeks after surgery, you should not do any heavy physical activity or sports. Your surgeon may advise you to sleep slightly elevated on your back.
- About a week after surgery, you will need to return to your surgeon to have the stitches removed.
