In order to properly plan your facial surgery, there are a number of steps you will need to follow. There may be pre-operative tests that need to be performed, travel needs to be planned, etc. Once you have completed these necessary steps, you can prepare for your stay, and start packing! All that is left is to have your surgery performed and follow our post-operative instructions while you quietly recover.
Planning your surgery
Mandatory to arrange
Once you have received your quote, you will receive login details to access our patient platform. There you can arrange the following:
- Anesthesia form — Complete the anesthesia form on your account.
- Preoperative tests — Only for operations under general anesthesia if explicitly requested.
Preoperative tests
Please note: preoperative examinations or tests will only be necessary if we see reason to do so based on your completed anesthesia form. These are the possible tests that may be requested:
- Electrocardiogram — Only necessary if you are over 60 years old and are having surgery under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with deep sedation. Please upload the report to the patient platform at least one month before the surgery, so that we can prepare and assess the situation.
- Blood test
- Only if you are over 60 years old, a mandatory blood test is required in advance. Please upload the results to the patient platform at least 1 month before your operation. We really need the results of these tests, as our anesthesiologists will not be able to administer anesthesia without them. The tests we need are: Hb, hematocrit, APTT/PTTT, platelets, fibrinogen, creatinine, urea, electrolytes (e.g. potassium, sodium, chloride), HIV and hepatitis C. If your doctor needs a letter from us, you can send it to us. here download and fill in your name and the date.
- If you are under 60 years of age, a blood test can be performed in our clinic if we deem this necessary based on your completed anesthesia form.
- Orthopantomogram of the mandible — Only if you are going to undergo a jaw reduction or a chin revision. You can bring this scan with you or email it to us. It is best to ask your dentist for the scan. It does not have to be a recent image, ask your dentist for an existing image from your file. If your dentist needs a letter from us, you can send it to us download here and fill in your name.
These tests are NOT included in the price. All these tests must be arranged by you in your own country. Your GP can help you with this. The results must be uploaded to your account on our patient platform. The blood test and ECG must not be older than 3 months. They are extremely important because the anaesthetist cannot administer general anaesthesia without this anaesthetic.
- Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test (CPET) — If your BMI is between 30 and 35, we need a cardiopulmonary exercise test. If your BMI is higher than 35, we will not perform surgery for your own safety. With sufficient weight loss, we will operate once your BMI is lower than 35. No exceptions are made.
- CBCT scan of the skull — Only if you are having custom-made PEEK implants for the cheek(s). This scan is not included in your surgery and must be done at least 8 weeks before your surgery. These are your instructions.
