Injecting fillers is, next to injecting muscle relaxants, one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the world. There are various applications of fillers, from fading fine lines, to accentuating lips to the so-called “liquid facelift”.
Previous fillers consisted of animal collagen or even silicone. Because these tissues often reacted under the skin, only hyaluronic acid fillers are used today.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally occurring in the body, which plays an important role in our skin, among other things. It contributes to good wound healing, it hydrates our skin by attracting and retaining moisture, it provides volume and stimulates connective tissue cells. These cells are responsible for the production of collagen and elastin. As we age, the amount of hyaluronic acid in our body decreases and our skin loses volume and elasticity. This causes wrinkles and gives our skin a duller appearance.
By using fillers based on hyaluronic acid, we can visibly rejuvenate and firm the skin. In addition, the loss of volume can be replenished and the face will get a natural tightening and lifting in this way.
Fillers based on hyaluronic acid can also be dissolved using hyaluronidase. This enzyme dissolves the hyaluronic acid immediately upon injection, making treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers a very safe treatment.
Lip augmentation—A lip augmentation is the most requested. Here we prefer to increase the lip red instead of injecting just under the skin of the upper lip so that the famous duck lip is created. For this a very soft filler is used.
Smoke lines around the mouth—The smoke lines around the mouth can be filled with a soft filler.
nostril fold —These deep lines next to the nose can also be softened with a filler. For this we use a slightly firmer product.
Discomfort is usually minimal and short-lived. The entire procedure takes about 20 minutes.
The side effects of filler injections are minimal when performed by an experienced physician.
A filler typically lasts 10-12 months. Some extra collagen tissue will also be created around the filler. After a number of treatments, less filler will typically be needed.
