What is a hip augmentation?

Marilyn Monroe, Beyoncé, Scarlet Johansson, Sophia Loren. All beautiful women known for their feminine figure. This is due to their hourglass figure: a narrow waist and wider hips. Women with an hourglass figure have a low waist-to-hip ratio. This is the ratio between the circumference of your waist and that of your hips. Women with an hourglass figure have a waist to hip ratio of 0,7, while for men the average is 0,9.

Hip augmentation

Procedure

The most common hip augmentation procedure for women is liposculpture, or fat grafting. Liposculpture involves removing fat from another part of the body, usually the abdomen. It is the most natural option. This procedure requires sufficient natural body fat. If the fat in your belly – or another part of your body – is transferred to your hips, approximately 40% of the injected fat will be absorbed by your body. The remaining 60% of the fat remains permanently on the hips.

The operation is performed by Dr. Doornaert under local or general anesthesia. Depending on the effect you want to achieve with hip augmentation, a second fat graft can be performed approximately six months after the first operation.

Recovery

  • Avoid pressure on the hips so that the 'new' injected fat can be optimally absorbed by the body.
  • Do not exercise for three weeks.

Costs

The costs depend on various factors. We advise you to make an initial consult to be scheduled with Dr. Maarten Doornaert. During this intake your operation will be discussed in detail and all your questions will be answered. In this first conversation you will also find out what the costs would be.
