Dr. Meijer studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam from 1992 to 1999. During her training, she gained valuable experience within the Department of Plastic Surgery at the Academic Medical Center Amsterdam. Through her work in trauma surgery, she became acquainted with oral, maxillofacial, and facial surgery.
Subsequently, she pursued Dentistry at the Catholic University of Nijmegen, where she obtained her dental degree in 2006. Brigitte completed her specialization as an oral, maxillofacial, and facial surgeon at the VU Medical Center in Amsterdam in 2010. In 2011 and 2012, she underwent training in Mohs surgery at the Department of Dermatology of the Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven. From 2016 to 2018, she completed a fellowship in nose corrections (rhinoplasty) in Hilversum.
Since 2013, Dr. Meijer has been affiliated with the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Amsterdam UMC. Her expertise includes facial reconstruction following head and neck injuries, dermatological oncology, and gender-affirming facial surgery.
